The lunch was truly necessary

After the hike, that buffet-style lunch tasted like five-star food 😋. We were all starving. I liked that there was a proper meal waiting for us instead of just a snack. The morning itself was beautiful, especially the landscapes around Red Valley. A long day, but well worth it.

Frequently asked Questions

Planning a trip to Machu Picchu can bring many questions. Below you’ll find answers about Inca Trail permits, trekking in Peru, altitude, packing, safety, and more to help you plan your adventure with confidence.

Inca Trail permits are limited and often sell out several months in advance, especially for the high season from May to September. We recommend booking 4 to 6 months ahead. For day tours such as Rainbow Mountain or Humantay Lake, booking a few days before is usually enough.

No. Peruvian regulations require every Inca Trail hiker to travel with a licensed tour operator and a professional guide. Our guides are local, bilingual and trained in first aid, and they will share the history of every site along the way.

The Classic Inca Trail is moderate to challenging: about 43 km over 4 days, with the highest pass at 4,215 m (Dead Woman’s Pass). With 2 days of acclimatization in Cusco and a basic level of fitness, most travelers complete it comfortably. If you prefer something shorter, the Short Inca Trail (2D/1N) is a great option.

Each tour page lists exactly what is included. Most tours include hotel pick-up, transport, a professional bilingual guide, the meals mentioned in the itinerary and safety equipment such as emergency oxygen and a first-aid kit. Entrance fees and personal expenses vary by tour — just ask us on WhatsApp.
